CYPRUS AGAINST TURKEY
(Adopted by the Committee of Ministers on 11 July 1997
at the 597th meeting of the Ministers’ Deputies)
The Committee of Ministers, having regard to the letter of the President of the European Commission of Human Rights of 3 March 1997 drawing the attention of the Committee of Ministers to the Government of Turkey’s refusal to participate in the Commission proceedings on the merits in the case of Cyprus against Turkey (Application No. 25781/94),
Supports the stand taken by the Commission that, notwithstanding the respondent government’s refusal to co-operate, the Commission will continue its examination of the present case with a view to preparing a report under Article 31 of the Convention;
Urges the Government of Turkey, as a High Contracting Party to the Convention, to meet its obligations under this Convention and consequently to participate in the Commission’s examination of the merits of the above‑mentioned application as required by Article 28, paragraph 1, of the Convention.
