Failure of waste disposal services to collect, treat and dispose of rubbish: communicated
The applicants live in municipalities in the province of Naples. They allege that in failing, since 1994, to adopt the necessary measures to ensure the functioning of the collection, processing and disposal of waste and instead implementing an inadequate legislative and administrative policy, the public authorities had caused serious damage to the environment and placed the lives and health of all the area’s inhabitants at risk. In addition, the applicants claim that the authorities omitted to inform them of the risks associated with living in a polluted area.
Communicated under Articles 2, 6, 8 § 1, 13, 34 and 35 § 1 of the Convention.
