AGREEMENT
in the form of an exchange of letters concerning the provisional application of the Protocol
establishing the fishing rights and the financial compensation provided for in the Agreement between
the European Economic Community and the Government of the Republic of Senegal on fishing off the
coast of Senegal for the period from 1 October 1986 to 28 February 1988
A. Letter from the Government of the Republic of Senegal
Brussels ,
Sir ,
With reference to the new Protocol , initialled on 1 October 1986 , establishing the fishing rights and
financial compensation provided for in the Agreement between the European Economic Community
and the Government of the Republic of Senegal on fishing off the coast of Senegal for the period from
1 October 1986 to 28 February 1988,1 have the honour to inform you that the Government of Senegal
is prepared to apply that Protocol provisionally from 1 October 1986 until it enters into force in
accordance with Article 14 of the said Protocol , provided that the European Economic Community , is
prepared to do likewise .
It is understood that , in this case , a first instalment equivalent to 50 % of the compensation laid down
in Article 2 of the Protocol must be paid before 28 February 1987 .
I should be obliged if you would confirm that the European Economic Community agrees to
provisional application as indicated above .

I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your letter of today's date , which reads as follows :
'With reference to the new Protocol , initialled on 1 October 1986 , establishing the fishing rights
and the financial compensation provided for in the Agreement between the European Economic
Community and the Government of the Republic of Senegal on fishing off the coast of Senegal for
the period from 1 October 1986 to 28 February 1988 , 1 have the honour to inform you that the
Government of Senegal is prepared to apply that Protocol provisionally from 1 October 1986 until
it enters into force in accordance with Article 4 of the said Protocol , provided that the European
Economic Community is prepared to do likewise .
