extending the Community system of monitoring imports into the Community of certain iron and steel products covered by the Treaty establishing the European Coal and Steel Community and originating in third countries
THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN
COMMUNITIES,
Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Coal and Steel Community, and in particular Article 74 thereof,
Whereas by recommendation No 1399/82/ECSC (1) the Commission instituted a Community monitoring system in respect of imports into the Community of certain iron and steel products covered by the Treaty establishing the European Coal and Steel Community;
Whereas the reasons which originally led the Commission to introduce these measures, namely the need to ensure fuller information on both expected imports and the terms under which they are made, continue to apply;
Whereas it is therefore necessary to prolong the said Community monitoring system,
HAS ADOPTED THIS RECOMMENDATION:
Article 1
The period of validity of recommendation No 1399/82/ECSC is hereby extended to 31 December 1983 (2).
Article 2
This recommendation is addressed to the Member States.

(2) The import documents delivered during November and December 1982 may continue to be used in accordance with Article 1 (3) of recommendation No 1399/82/ECSC for a period of two months from the date of their delivery even if this period ends in 1983.
