A.Pecuniary damage: applicants' entitlement to some compensation not contested - claim for interest also accepted - amount of global sum assessed on equitable basis.
B.Non-pecuniary damage: finding of a violation not sufficient satisfaction for prejudice sustained - award on an equitable basis.
C.Costs and expenses: claim in respect of domestic and Strasbourg proceedings accepted, but only in part.
D.Interest: not appropriate in this instance to accede to claim for interest on award for period between date of judgment and payment.
Conclusion: respondent State to pay specified sums to the applicants (unanimously).
