I.ARTICLE 6 § 1 OF THE CONVENTION ("reasonable time")

Result: slightly more than four years and five months.

Reasonableness of length of proceedings: to be assessed in light of circumstances of case and criteria laid down in Court's case-law.
Case not especially complex despite intervention of third party.
Excessive workload of trial court did not justify period of nearly two years between close of investigative stage and hearing of case.
Conclusion: violation (unanimously).
II.ARTICLE 50 OF THE CONVENTION
Damage and costs incurred before domestic court: no causal link with the violation found.
Costs referable to Court's proceedings, in which the applicant took no part: no figure specified for claim.
Conclusion: claims dismissed (unanimously).
