Placement in police custody following refusal to disclose identity: admissible
On 11 August 1995 the applicant was accused by a conductor of travelling on a public bus without a valid ticket. A dispute started and the police were called. The applicant refused to give her name and address and was arrested at 9.30 p.m., in accordance with the Administration of Justice Act, and taken to a police station. She was put in a waiting room at 9.45 p.m. and moved to a detention cell at 11 p.m. The next day, at 10.45 a.m., she disclosed her identity and was released at 11 a.m. She complains about that her detention was unlawful.
